For a long time, Peko didn't really have an opinion on Kouha. I mean, this guy got himself killed day one before she even really knew him beyond what was written on his card. She was a little weirded out by the fact that Kougyoku was so convinced that he was her brother, and then ALRIGHT THEN, HE PROBABLY LET KOUGYOKU KILL HIM SO SHE'D BE SAFE. THAT'S A NORMAL AND LOGICAL POINT OF VIEW, THANK YOU PEKO.
But then she died and met him in the graveyard and holy hell, Kouha was a wakeup call for her and Kuzuryuu. She'd never really thought about how the young master might need her for something other than a weapon?? Her entire life she'd been absolutely convinced that the only thing she could do for him was kill for him, something that was only really reinforced by the fact that her young master is such a gentle soul, she never wanted him to have to kill anyone. And since he's the young master, she never thought that her opinion could really matter to him. Since she's just the tool.
And then Kouha, someone in a similar position to Kuzuryuu, coming right out and saying that the most important thing was for someone to believe in him -- that shook her right to the core. Because it was literally something she'd never considered. Of course she does believe in him, she'd like to think, but a lot of times, her actions really do directly contradict that, which is something she's still struggling with, even now. Killing for him to try to keep him safe (not just in the castle, but on the island. tWICE PEKO. TWICE.), trying to protect him, only acting on her own when she thinks it's better for him; all of those are things she's only realizing now are detrimental to not just her relationship with Kuzuryuu, but to Kuzuryuu himself.
SO SHE'S WORKING ON IT. She's getting better at saying it, but she's still shit at showing it. Because it's Peko. No one is surprised by that. But in endgame, she's definitely going to want to try to talk to him more, because she really is trying. And she's going to try beating around the bush to ask how one exactly goes about dating the bocchan. Is she allowed to date the bocchan she wants to date the bocchan but it's not allowed right???? Help her Kouha. You're her only hope.
