ARE YOU REALLY A VICTIM IF YOU VOLUNTEERED THOUGH, CHIZURU? Okay so obviously Chizuru was both a DK teammate and a wingmate so she had two things going for her there as far as Kuzuryuu's scale of likability. He did think she was waaaay too trusting for her own good though. Which is why he spent so much time trying ton convince her to be careful around Kaoru. Because he really didn't want to have a repeat of Norway and have to investigate the murder of one of his teammates, that was bad enough when it was a teammate he didn't really even know or have an opinion on beyond "this guy is a teammate and we have to work together". Honestly, that concern wasn't all just Kaoru (he was just the one Kuzuryuu harped on most because Chizuru was just NOT GETTING IT), he was fairly sure if anybody wanted to kill Chizuru they...might not have that hard a time of it, even with her abilities. WHO THE HELL GOES FOR A 3AM WALK ON MURDER NIGHT, CHIZURU. WHO DOESN'T BLOCK THEIR DOORS AND LEAVES THEIR PORCH UNLOCKED. HOW THE HELL DID YOU MAKE IT TO WEEK 8?

I'm sure you picked up on it but one of the things Kuzuryuu struggles most with is trusting people. And he has differing levels of trust with people it's like a scale and it's all very complicated because Kuzuryuu never does things simply BUT THE LONG AND THE SHORT OF IT IS: he trusted the DKs a lot faster than he did anybody else. He trusted Nanami almost immediately but the rest of the DKs were kind of on a trial period until after Feferi's murder. Because he wasn't wholly convinced they wouldn't try and throw each other under the bus, despite everything they'd said at the two meetings they'd had at that point. But once it became apparent that they had every intention of working together as Nanami intended, they earned his trust. WHICH WAS WHY HE WAS SO, SO VERY PISSED THAT CHIZURU ENDED UP TELLING KAORU ABOUT THE ATTIRE RULES. Because if one of them had decided to use that to cover up a murder, it would have fucked them over IMMENSELY. And even if they hadn't, it very nearly fucked them over in the trial because if Nanami and Kuzuryuu had been forced to confess that it was the two of them who knew...they had no explanation as to WHY they had kept that secret for so long. It would have looked really bad. So it's probably little wonder that Kuzuryuu was 100% okay with scapegoating Chizuru in that trial after that little reveal. Because, to him, it looked like her loyalties lay with KAORU, not the DKs and that sort of thing is not okay in the slightest. And, more importantly, she'd betrayed HIS trust which he, again, does not give out easily for exactly this reason right here. After he'd calmed down and Chizuru apologized, he realized that SCAPEGOATING HER WOULD HAVE BEEN A LITTLE EXTREME but he was still worried that she was something of a liability. And he decided that he definitely wasn't going to murder until after she'd gone. And he made a note to be a little more careful about what information he shared with her.

THEN EVERYTHING CHANGED WHEN THE SEABASS ATTACKED. Because at that point it became 100% certain that none of them would ever get away with murder ever again. Hell, they might even get scapegoated with a good enough frame job. So...weirdly enough that (and their sad new meeting room) kind of put made everything go back to normal? It actually made him feel closer to the remaining DKs than he ever had before. Like...they actually kind of felt like a real team to him at that point. Whereas, in the beginning, they were just kind of going through the motions and trying to be this big scary force that they never really were. And then in the middle they were just kind of this...sad little group trying to act like everything was okay and really not talking about just how bad everything really was. BUT IN THAT DIM, DINGY LITTLE CELL WITH THE RATS...THEY TRULY WERE A TEAM.

And then he killed them. AHAHA, NO MORE SERIOUSLY...Kuzuryuu REALLY would have preferred to directly ask them if they were okay with this but...obviously he couldn't do that. Because not only would it have risked all the hostages lives, but he thought it might ALSO put Feferi and Chizuru in danger thanks to the note he'd received. It hadn't said that whoever he told would die, just that there would be consequences and he wasn't going to potentially endanger the two of them like that. Because there are so many ways to make a person suffer without killing them and OBVIOUSLY HE DID NOT WANT THAT TO HAPPEN TO THE LAST OF HIS TEAMMATES. So he was just kind of forced to do the best that he could, which was try to give them a super subtle advance notice that would HOPEFULLY make sense to them in retrospect when he actually did the thing. Once again, it all came back to trust so this murder was a BIG DEAL for Kuzuryuu on all fronts. Because he had to trust them to actually go along with it instead of just killing him, and they had to trust that he was doing something good instead of just backstabbing them for his own personal gain.

He still does feel bad that it had to come to that. Like...basically all the DKs, Kuzuryuu didn't actually want to kill anybody and he ESPECIALLY did not want to kill his teammates who he'd come so far with working together. But he really and truly did have their best interests at heart. Because the three of them couldn't really just NOT kill somebody but there was absolutely no way any of them would be able to get away with it at that point. So they'd just kind of uselessly be marching to their own executions. Dying in and of itself was bad enough but...those executions. He would gladly go through one if that meant the rest of his team wouldn't have to. So like...this was a REALLY SHITTY solution (especially since he was mostly convinced they'd be dead for good) but it was also the only one they really had so he just kind of had to suck it up and go through with it.

As far as what happens from here on out, it's basically the same for Chizuru as it is for Fef. Kuzuryuu feels like he owes them big time for killing them so IF THERE IS ANYTHING YOU WANT OR NEED, HE'LL DO IT. And Chizuru will always have a special place on his social ladder as teammate+ since everyone is teammates now. Just...dear lord he is going to teach you self-preservation tactics even if it kills him.
