... Okay, basically, Chizuru is just too sweet and pretty and gentle and self-sacrificing, it just put Maribelle on edge. She had to secretly be a murderer come on. In Maribelle's defence, she just picked the wrong twin to back. During the first trial, Maribelle got really annoyed because it felt like people were dismissing Chizuru just because it was "too obvious" and because she was a cute girl who looked sad (if only she had has this opinion a week later whoops). This probably wouldn't have bothered her so much if it hadn't meant that it put more pressure on Kaoru, who she felt a bit responsible for! He was her neighbour, they'd chatted and made sort of friends and she was his alibi. A really bad alibi. Basically it was twin vs twin and she backed Kaoru, which is odd considering Kaoru and Chizuru were way closer than Maribelle was to Kaoru. Whatever. She didn't really dislike Chizuru at all, but everyone was panicking and yelling and frustrated and Apollo got a rise out of her.
(She's not thinking too hard about the fact that in the end, it turns out that Kaoru did go help murder Kouha while she thought he was in his room. It all worked out in the end.)
But anyway, after the fact Maribelle was a bit embarrassed! Not too much, but a bit. She was all set for no murder and we're all friends here and then week 2 happened! So that was clearly not happening. But Maribelle felt a bit bad about accusing Chizuru and mostly left her alone, thought she was a nice girl, etc. Counted her in the "would not be surprised if they shanked someone" group though. There was also a certain amount of "Chizuru why" in regards to willingness to sustain injuries and so on. When week 6 came around, she actually suspected Chizuru again! Maribelle does not have good instincts. Chizuru's brief attempt at sacrificing herself for Len was a bit different for Maribelle than for everyone else- she totally would have voted for Chizuru if she had really wanted her to. Not because she disliked Chizuru, she actually really admired the thought behind it. She was prepared to accept Chizuru's decision, since she was a grown woman and old enough to understand what she was doing. And it wasn't like with the Feferi vs Ryou thing since it wouldn't have been Chizuru dying for just a murderer, but also an innocent boy who hadn't done a thing. She was a bit annoyed at Chizuru apparently trying to leave the decision up to them though, since in her mind that wasn't how it should be done.
Anyway, then there was the DK reveal! Maribelle wasn't too surprised about Chizuru being suspected but Chizuru being in the group with Nanami and Kuzuryuu was a surprise! After that protecting the DK group became a priority, since there was obvious fuckery going on. Chizuru was included because fuck this show fuck it fuck it. By week 8 Maribelle was counting Chizuru as a solid ally and someone she liked. Their conversation regarding the hostages made Maribelle like her a lot, actually, PARTLY BECAUSE SHE THOUGHT THEY MIGHT DIE TOGETHER since she got the impression that if they hadn't been forbidden from doing it, Chizuru would have been volunteering as a victim alongside her. When they found her body, Maribelle wasn't initially too angry since she was thinking "well, she was prepared for this and probably wanted this", but when she thought that it was an attack on all the DKs just because they were DKs she was furious because so not the point, you idiots and this is not justice. Once they realised that Chizuru and Feferi probably did let Kuzuryuu kill them to save Nanami, she went back to admiring Chizuru a little and thinking fondly of her.
tl;dr, Maribelle really needs to work on her character judgement and gullibility before she becomes a judge.
