But as the weeks went on, that didn't change. In fact, the way she was so determined to help them out even though she could easily have sat back and let them fend for themselves made him more fond of her. Her presence and encouragement really made them into more of a group that worked together, rather than focusing on themselves. He started to want to see her make it out of the game too, no matter how impossible it seemed, given their roles.
In their conversation during the week he went, he basically thought that she was a robot created by the producers to be the mastermind specifically for this game hahaha.... But as it turns out, he was SO OFF LMFAO
During his trial, he was super touched at how far they went to defend him, knowing that it wasn't going to work out... But there was no way to let them know that they could stop. At the end, when Kuzuryuu objected to letting Maya retire, he was very glad that Nanami talked him down because THAT WAS LIKE THE ONLY GOOD THING that could've come out of the trial. THANKS FOR HAVING HIS BACK, NANAMI..
And then lurking from the graveyard, when he found out what Apollo had done to her with threatening to kill all the remaining DKs and then her, he was super mad about that. Because HE MADE HER CRY...?? Even though she'd already been encouraging them to find the mastermind and kill them (which he also wasn't happy about), knowing that it was her. He could tell she really wanted to help them, no malice included, so he had this awkward mix of feelings where for all they knew, she really did have to die to end the game, but he also didn't want her to die to end the game. So you know, after all that bullshit about rogue AI and stuff, he was glad to conclude that she wouldn't be sacrificed in any way.
Although unfortunately, he was kind of understanding of Kazoo's shitty plan to free her from the game... sorry her DKs were such awful self-sacrificial murderers. :|a He felt really bad for her though, because they basically left her all alone to face the others about being the Mastermind and DKs and all that, since she didn't know they were still there in the graveyard. But she still stayed so strong, after her friends all died for her, and focused on breaking the game. It both worried and made Phoenix proud because her best friends sacrificed themselves for her and that's not something easy to let go of.
End-game, finding out who the 'father' she kept speaking of threw him for a loop. But after what she said about never getting to meet him, and hearing stories from her sister/brother, Phoenix is genuinely happy that she got to meet him and now gets to spend the rest.. of however long they're stuck there with him.
tl;dr HE'LL PLAY CARD GAMES WITH HER ANY DAY if she's not sick of them yet
