LIL SIIIIS okay let me see if I can finally organize all of apollo's feelings.

MAYA IS JUST. SO IMPORTANT. SO IMPORTANT. I said it before, I didn't think they'd get so close. They've gone from thinking of each other as caricatures of their normal partners (Apollo as grumpier, tinier Nick and Maya as a more excitable, crazy Trucy) to really respecting each other for who they are and it really shows.

SO BACK TOWARD THE BEGINNING...Apollo really was annoyed with Maya a lot, haha. Not EXTREMELY so just his normal annoyance, and it was mostly due to him being stuck in spot where everything had gone to hell in canon, and now he was stuck here! So he couldn't help but default to grumpy. Still, Maya being Maya was a little nostalgic to him, given lawyers naturally gravitating toward assistants, but overall he thought she was just kind of hyper active, and also didn't believe the spirit medium nonsense.

BUT THEN THE END OF IAN'S TRIAL HAPPENED. Apollo was honestly stuck on the case, and he knew he was overlooking something, but they were pressed for time and he had just about given up. But when Maya spoke up, he wanted to listen! Not because it was Maya, honestly, but because he wanted the truth, and at the time, Maya was the one the only who was still holding back from voting for Ian in mass. It was a little too late, but Maya was the one to make Apollo realize that the path they were on was wrong, and he changed his vote. He wanted to hear what she had to say! Every testimony was important! So even though they screwed up, Maya is responsible for making Apollo be even more tedious and detail oriented in future trials.

Maya also ended up being the first person (outside of his unicorn attempt) Apollo tried reaching out to a little. Just listening to her more and not immediately closing off. Maya's smarter than her personality leads others to believe, and he saw that! The more she Maya'd at him the more they began to sort of fall into the whole assistant + lawyer motif, and he's comfortable with that kind of thing! Maya's personality also didn't really give him much room to RUN AWAY as he does when he is trying to close off, so that sort of forced him to accept Maya as someone who was There in his life, he began to be okay with that too, in his own way (like in his journal calling Maya A FEELINGS TRUCK).

By week four he'd gotten so used to Maya being around that he started to act more like his normal self, being resigned to antics and generally fussing over her safety. This was also helped by Maya, Glinda, and Klavier helping him through getting over Ian's trial and his thoughts on Feferi, and getting those gd bandages off his face.

BUT THEN LAWYER TRIAL HAPPENED. Wow that was fun!! Apollo is a general worry wart, but Maya was the one person he had actually started to open up to, and the thought of her being killed was almost as strong as the fear of Trucy being hurt! It was also that trial that cemented just how attached he was to her, and how much he wanted to protect her no matter what! He had ZERO sympathy for Phoenix at the time, and only held back some of his feelings for Maya's sake, since she was hurt the most by it. He really wanted to comfort her! FUN FACT: Maya and Athena are the only people to receive any sort of vague physical affection from Apollo. Maya was the first, when he hugged her while she was crying because what else do you do??? And then after when they had their talk about partnership!1 Athena didn't get a hug til endgame lol.

Anyway after, when he tried to comfort Maya, he was again, completely genuine. He doesn't know how to actually deal with feelings himself, but he does know that they are okay to have. Even if you can't break your attachment to a horrible person, even if you will do dumb things for the people you are about. . .it's okay to have these feelings. He didn't feel like he was in any position to judge her for still caring about Phoenix, given, well, his own boss was a murderer, and his Phoenix is/was kind of a dick. Really, he just wanted her to be assured that she could keep going, no matter how many times you're betrayed or shit happens, and he could only hope it got through.

AND THEN SHE FEELINGS FRIENDSHIPPED HIM and they officially became some weird sibling besties or something, and Maya had officially won him over 110%. Really the only person Apollo would be loyal to other than her is Sebastian, and he's on a much, much lower level than Maya. Apollo does not have any friends, in canon or otherwise! There's Clay but lol Clay, and then there's the Wright Agency. That's all that he knows! So getting attached to someone outside of his circle is a huge deal for him, and something he honestly didn't think he was capable of. MAYA HAS SHOWN HIM THE LIGHT OF FRIENDSHIP.

From then on, Maya became his go to for consulting and fussing over! At this point he usually could tell when she was joking and when she was on point about something! He also was very aware of her SUICIDE PATH due to her old game CR, and was active about trying to dissuade her from thinking she'd never come back!! NOT ALLOWED TO DIE, MAYA, EVER. Between this point and Spain's trial were probably his high points of friendship.

BUT THEN DUMB ATTORNEY DRAMA

Apollo began to close off again! Mostly because he absolutely did not want to involve Maya in his melodramatics. He was seriously considering killing someone! But it's BECAUSE of Maya that he didn't. He didn't want to betray her, he didn't want her to end up alone, he didn't want to be Phoenix 2.0. Without her influence, Apollo would have fallen fast, and hard. She then dragged him into making up with Athena and all was well, though he is never, ever, going to tell her he was this close to giving in and committing murder. Part of the reason he went ahead and told her about Nanami was because he felt guilty for even THINKING of murder, and felt bad for not consulting her about confronting the DKs, when he would usually do so. He felt like he deserved all of her poking and judging, and I imagine she did that every day including the trial, haha. "REMEMBER THAT STUPID THING YOU DID APOLLO? YEAH THAT WAS REAL STUPID."

From that point on I feel like their relationship was fairly consistent! Fussing over each other, annoying each other, and telling each other DON'T DO THE THING and blowing shit up 'w' Had Gundam not kicked apollo into the portal, he would have stubbornly sat there until he was sure Maya was safe. IT'S A GOOD THING HE WAS KICKED IN THO, OR NO ONE WOULD HAVE COME FOR HELP I GUESS...............

gawd this is so rambly BUT OKAY OVERALL APOLLO LOEV LIL SIS MAYA. GONNA FIND GROWN MAYA SOME DAY AND GIVE HER THE BIGGEST HUG. She has tiny shounen loyalty 5ever.
