Okay Iceland was pretty flatline neutral for Apollo pretty much the entire time! It didn't mean he necessarily didn't care for him or anything, he actually respected him a good bit! He just realized from the moment he tried to reach out to the Unicorners on their first week, that Iceland was a very, very cautious person, and it really wasn't worth his effort to try to break down his barriers and be his friend. Apollo rarely does that for people he LIKES/is interested in, why would he go that far for Iceland? In his opinion, the guy had plenty of reason to be paranoid and careful, and he tipped his metaphorical hat at it, and that was that. Despite the few times they butted heads, he thinks a lot like him--the only difference is that he is accidentally a shounen protag too. But whenever Iceland seemed harsh or distant, Apollo pretty much knew that was just him being him, there were no hard feelings.
As for being a nation!! Apollo still just does not freaking get it. The closest he's come to rationalizing it is them being representations of their respective nations, and somehow have obtained all the knowledge of their country and are slightly more powerful or something?? IT MAKES NO SENSE TO HIM but at the very least he has stopped believing Iceland and the other nations are just well meaning crazy people 8|;; THAT SAID Apollo really didn't want to get in it since he knew he was outnumbered, when Iceland confronted him on his robot racism and asked what that meant for nations, had he been in a worse mood, he would have said yes! Yes he doesn't count them as human for the most part \8D/;; Funnn fact if the DKs hadn't kamekaze'd and the lawyers hadn't friendship'd him, he was thiiiis close to finding a way to kill off iceland so one else would have to get caught and executed. He doesn't get the nations thing, but he's detached enough from them to not really be too affected by their deaths (this goes for Spain and Austria too. HE REALLY LIKED SPAIN, but again. Weird. Nation...people. What??)
SO YEAH HE THINKS ICELAND IS A PRETTY OKAY DUDE. JUST ALSO WOULD NOT BE TOO UPSET...IF ALL THE NATIONS DIED...I'm sorry he's a terrible person by accident sob.
Also hates Mr. Puffin so much whatever talking bird whatever.
FEFERI
Okay the thing with Feferi is, Apollo was actually fairly neutral on her too! Seemed like a nice kid, kind of goofy. Also is a fish person apparently that is weird but okay??
But when he realized she was very possibly the killer he just had whole load of mixed feelings. This was a kid that was bold enough to use her own weapon for the murder, and counted on us thinking no one would ever do such a thing! She had really planned this out. Her getting away with it coupled with his memories--not being able to find the killer of his best friend--are really what threw him into a spiral! He also wanted to make ABSOLUTELY SURE it was her, because....13!! He didn't want to call out some kid on a hunch with no decisive evidence. But then again, this was also a kid that planned out an entire convoluted murder, so at that point it's hard to just think of her as a child. Apollo is a lawyer! And while he doesn't have a dead set view of black and white morality, he is very firm on murder being murder. If you are old enough to consciously kill someone, you are old enough to face the consequences!
NOW. HE DIDN'T ACTUALLY WANT HER TO. . .DIE. He was troubled by the fact that she didn't retire, though, and his mind went to the worst case scenario (she might kill again). He just wanted her to be brought to justice, and for everyone to know what she had done! Then everyone could judge her on their own individual levels. And maybe lock her up for a day. That is literally all he wanted. Once he realized just about everyone else did know she'd done it, while a bit frustrating, he pretty much dropped the case, since it was clear the majority didn't view her as a threat. By the time he blew up the smoking room, he had gone back to the mindset of just setting her as a goofy kid (but a MURDERER), and just wanted answers from her, not punishment. BUT WELL, WHEN YOU BLOW UP A ROOM AND CHASE A 13 YO GIRL....can't really blame them for jumping out a window.
When Feferi imploded with the DKs he. . .thought it was noble? Ish? If dumb. He really did want to find a way to help all of them! But then they blew themselves up. Kid's, man. Kids. He really does not get why people continue to underestimate them.
